Weekly Reflections

Week 13:This week was a very good break for me. It was really nice to go home and relax, and to see my girlfriend. I had a great thanksgiving and this break really helped me recharge and reset. I have some major work to do these next couple of weeks though. After this break I feel more motivated to really sit down and grind out the rest of the semester. I have a few things I need to catch up on, but other than that I really just have to prepare for my finals. So far, I don’t seem to have too many actual tests and more projects and presentations. That’s something I have definitely noticed about college and how it is different from highschool. I think that’s good for me because I hate studying for tests and I’m much better at giving presentations and doing projects. I was feeling a little stressed during the break because I didn’t really do any work so I think being static just made me anxious. I missed my roommates as well so we hung out on Saturday night. I had an awesome time with my family and my girlfriend and I’m really ready to finish the semester strong.

Week 12:

This week was pretty rough for me. The schoolwork is piling up and I am getting really overwhelmed. I bombed an exam I had and I easily could have done better if I had just studied one piece of material that I forgot about. I’m just trying to drag myself to thanksgiving where I can just relax and see my girlfriend again. Me and some friends went out to dairy queen for someone’s birthday on the floor. I really need to just make it through this week and then the short week next week so I can use the time over thanksgiving to catch up on a lot of work. I don’t know if it is really a lot of work, or it’s just daunting me and I’m just getting anxious. I feel like all the work is piling up on top of me and I just want to quit. I’ve always hated school and I thought college was the only option for me, but if I knew I’d be this miserable, maybe I would have decided on doing something else. I sort of feel trapped because I don’t really know what to do or how to proceed. I’m just hoping to get through this semester and then just try to do better next semester.

Week 11:This week was a really fun week for me. I really experimented and tried a lot of new things. For one, I went to a yoga class on Wednesday and had a surprisingly great time. I was actually pretty good and one of the only people who could do a headstand. I think I will try to go almost every week if I can. It’s a good break from going to the gym and kind of resetting. This past month or so I have actually been working on and I would say I have accomplished a goal. I created a pretty consistent gym routine and I have been going almost every day with my roommate. School is getting pretty stressful and I really need to get going on some things or else I’m going to be in trouble. I am very behind in stats and need to catch up by a lot before my exam next week. I also need to get going on my finals and see what I need to do and what I can get ahead on. I also should polish up and revise and resubmit some work for more credit. I honestly hate the academic part of school and that is something I am really fighting with right now.

Week 10: This week was pretty relaxing and a much easier week than the last. However, next week is a pretty important week for me. I have my presentation for this class that is pretty stressful for me so I just want to get it over with on Monday. I also have an exam next week which is also on my mind. This week was pretty relaxing as I didn’t have any big projects or tests, I really just had a simple week with easy assignments. Some of my finals got introduced this week which is stressful but I think I will be alright. Almost all of my friends on my floor either went home for the weekend or went away. It was very weird to have almost nobody on the floor; it felt like a ghost town. It was nice to finally have a quiet weekend and just relax and hang out with my roommates. My roommates and I have decided we want to explore around campus more and see what was going on. We came across some random alpacas in the quad and had an interesting experience of them as they all went to the bathroom at the same time. Here’s a photo

Week 9:

This week was a pretty heavy and stressful week school wise. I had a few projects and some papers due during the end of the week, and I started the week with an exam. School has been very hectic and I can feel the workload piling up. I hope it starts to slow down a little in the coming weeks. One thing that made me feel much better about the week was knowing that Halloween was coming and I could maybe enjoy myself and relax a little this weekend. It started off amusing as me and my whole floor dressed up in costumes and hung out. It was also pretty amusing hearing about all of the people who got busted for throwing parties. That was on Friday, and on Saturday I decided to go home for a quick break. It was good to spend time with my family and away from my roommates. I do love them but it’s good to get away and have some alone time. The dorm situation is rough, we keep making the room a mess because we have no room to put anything. I’m definitely excited to try and get a suite next year.

Week 8:

This week was definitely my best week at school. My long-distance girlfriend surprised me for our one year anniversary. She flew all the way from California and surprised me on Tuesday night. I needed a vacation, I was getting very stressed about school so me and her went back to my house for the rest of the week and the weekend. I feel so much better and more rejuvenated after seeing her. Now I only have to wait until thanksgiving until I see her again. I also had a huge setback happen on Saturday night when I rolled my ankle pretty bad playing basketball. Me and my roommates are in the 3v3 intramural league and I’m not sure I will be healthy to play. It’s very swollen and it hurts to walk. At least now I can just sit in my room all day and do school work. This Week overall was awesome though and made me feel so much better and ready to grind out the last weeks of the semester.

Week 7:

This week was very boring to me. I spent most of my time doing work in my dorm. Nothing really notable happened this week. I spent my weekend relaxing and watching sports. I am looking forward to the Celtics to start playing. I definitely got back on top of things regarding school. I think I’m going home next weekend so I’m excited for that. I was woken up by people in my room a few times this week so I was pretty pissed off at some points this week. I am definitely feeling the weight of the semester start to pile up. Even though I am keeping on top of my work, I still am starting to feel a little overwhelmed. I think I just have to keep focused and stay on top of my work and I’ll be fine in the future. Some projects make me nervous as I always procrastinate and I really want to stay on top of my work.

Week 6:

After a short week of classes, I went home for the long weekend.  During the week however I think I slept wrong and my neck was killing me for a few days and caused me to miss class on Thursday (Sorry). But I went home for the weekend and had a nice reset. I think I got a little behind on my work but I was able to get all caught up. This weekend I went to hangout with some friends from high school that I haven’t seen in a while. I really like my new friends here at UNE but they just aren’t the same compared to the people I grew up with and have known for mostly 10 years. During the summer, I helped my dad prepare for my hot tub to be installed and I finally got to use it. It felt even better being in it because I put in a solid 3 days of work into preparing it. I’m ready to get back to school though, I have been feeling very unproductive and want to get on top of things better.

Week 5:

This weekend, me and my roommates parents came up for homecoming/ parents weekend. When my parents got up here Saturday morning, first we went out for breakfast off campus. It was nice not having to eat in the dining hall for once. After that we went shopping and then went to the football game. My parents then had to go home so my sister could go to gymnastics, but it was great getting to see them again and sort of touring the campus and the surrounding areas. During the week, me and my roommates failed the room inspection so we had to move our room all around for the second time. At first it was very frustrating but then we came up with a great set up that I personally like way more than everything else we had. I had a test in Stats and got an 87% so I am pretty happy about that.

Week 4:

I went home this weekend and had a great time, but the rest of my week was very bland. On Friday night, I went to my highschool’s annual blackout cancer football game, where they fund raise and all of the proceeds go to ending childhood cancer. As a former football player this brought back many memories about my time on the field. It was great to see a bunch of my former teammates at the game in the crowd and on the field. They ended up winning and I overall had a great time. I sort of dreaded coming back to school, but overall my school week wasn’t too hard. I had a test in which I got a B+ on. And I got assigned another test for next week. I am staying on top of all of my assignments I think and overall doing pretty well. I believe my parents are coming up for the weekend next week so I am very excited.

Week 3:

This week I really got suited into the groove of my classes. I had a good weekend and I started the week off good. I got a little behind in a few classes on a few assignments but overall, I got back on track. I got assigned my first big assignment this week. I have a paper due in my sports management class where I have to interview a professional about their experience in the field of work. I have no idea who I would interview but I have a month to figure it out. I also have a test next week that I need to study for. I’m not too concerned though, the class is very easy. I am really enjoying my time here at UNE. I’m very comfortable with the change and I am excited to see what the rest of the semester brings. I plan on going home next weekend so I am excited for that.

Week 2:

My second week here was very similar to the first week. Like everyone else, I had Monday off and spent my time relaxing. Tuesday was my long day, where I have 4 classes. The classes overall were chill and easy. I took notes on different topics and partook in different discussions about those topics. Wednesday, I have no classes, Thursday I have 1 and Friday I had 4 classes again. Overall, I had a very light week. I’m wondering if things will start to pick up more the further into the semester we get. In my dorms I have made some new friends. I hate the showers, they are too small to dry yourself in. Nothing in the dorms really surprises me though. I have been playing basketball a lot with my roommates and I’m starting to get my shot back. The week kind of flew by, which I don’t mind because I’m already looking forward to break. I had some homework to do this weekend, but I made quick work of it. My best day of the week was probably Sunday. All day, I watched the NFL games. I have a feeling that this is going to be a common occurrence of my best day of the week. Nothing beats doing nothing and watching football for 10 hours in 1 day.

Week 1:

My first week at UNE was both very busy, but also relaxed. I moved in like everyone else and started immediately doing what I do best, nothing.I already knew my roommates from high school, and we are all pretty good friends. My first week started out with orientation, I attended most of the activities, but skipped out on a few lengthy walks all the way to the forum. I would end every day with my usual task, sit down and watch TV. After orientation, I had a few days off, and then classes started. My classes this week mostly consisted of syllabuses and explaining the course contents. I started to work on my basketball skills by going to the campus center to play almost every day. The food here is sometimes great, and sometimes terrible, but I can’t complain. I have met a couple new friends, some on the same floor of my dorm as me, and some right below me. My favorite thing to do so far is to relax and watch Netflix, as my parents can’t tell me what to do anymore. My schedule is just the way I wanted it to be. I am very excited to see how my classes will be when the semester has picked up. So far here at UNE, I feel very comfortable, which has led my first week here to be relaxing and fun.
