Reflection

Throughout this course, my understanding of the history of science has been evolving and improving similar to what we see in the course content. From the beginning of the semester all the way to the end, my understanding of scientific ideas and concepts have increased even with this class being focused on history. From primitive and early science, all the way to the scientific revolution, this course paints a picture of the evolution of science, and how it has affected history itself. Most of the scientific concepts and topics are relevant today. Whether I learn about them in a science class or if I use an invention we learned about in class, this course has significant implications to modern day life and modern science. Numerous topics that we discussed in this course have modern day implications. From medical advancements to mathematics and physics, modern science is sprinkled all throughout the topics we discussed. Many of these topics lay the framework for science to continue to improve and evolve into what we know today as modern science. My understanding of modern concepts such as astronomy and physics has greatly expanded due to following the evolution of science throughout history. Watching the evolution of topics like astronomy has helped me understand the development and theory that historical astronomers worked through in order to progress from primitive astronomy to combining concepts like physics and mathematics to improve upon their predecessors work. These advancements and concepts are proof of how this course improved and expanded my knowledge of science throughout history. In conclusion this course provoked deep thoughts about the nature of the world and how science and philosophy are intertwined into historical topics. Many figures represent the evolution of science throughout history and my knowledge of famous scientists and their contributions have dramatically improved.
