Some qualities of a close friend is someone who you have a bond and a connection with.
Social media can have whatever effect you want it to have on a friend. There is no limit with social media. You can still talk to, see, and spend time with people online. This allows you to build relationships as strong as being in person with someone.
I think some of the newer social media programs are definitely helping with people being able to build friendships and connections with people online. You can talk and see anyone’s face at any time with the use of facetime. I think Konnikova had much different applications for social media than what is available today. The evolution of social media has allowed for much more relationship building.
Question 2 Exploring Context
Some phone numbers in my phone are some people that I haven’t talked to in years. I also don’t have many phone numbers of people I would consider friends with myself. I do have around 3 people that I call consistently so I am a little below the Dunbar number, which is interesting. I definitely talk to more people on different social media platforms but I only really use my phone to call someone if I really need them.
